Booksfy.in (“Booksfy,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website www.booksfy.in (the “Site”), use the Booksfy mobile app for Android and iOS (the “App”), and purchase products from us. In this policy, the Site and the App together are called our “Services.”

By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not access or use the Services.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

(a) Personal Information

• Name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Billing and shipping addresses
• Payment details (processed securely by our payment gateway, Razorpay; we do not store your card details)
• Order history
• Profile picture, if you choose to upload one
• Product reviews you write

(b) Non-Personal Information

• Browser type and version
• Device information and device identifiers
• IP address
• Pages and screens visited and usage data
• Cookies and similar technologies

(c) Information collected by the App

The App collects some information only when you use a particular feature. It asks your permission first wherever your phone requires it.

• Login: we send a one-time password (OTP) to your phone number or email address to sign you in.
• Location: only when you tap “use my current location” while adding an address. Your device’s coordinates are used to fill in your address and pincode. We do not track your location in the background.
• Camera: only when you search for a book by taking a photo. The photo is sent to our image-search service to find matching books. It is not linked to your account.
• Photos: only when you pick a picture from your phone’s gallery to use as your profile picture.
• Push notifications: if you allow notifications, the App registers a notification token with Google Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send you messages.
• App usage (analytics): Google Firebase Analytics collects app usage events (for example, screens viewed, searches and checkout visits) and device identifiers.
• Guest shopping: if you shop without logging in, a device identifier is used to keep your cart.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Process and fulfil your orders
• Sign you in securely with a one-time password
• Communicate with you regarding your orders, returns, and inquiries
• Send order updates and offers as push notifications, if you have allowed them
• Fill in your address and pincode from your location, when you ask us to
• Find books that match a photo you take
• Show product reviews you write to other customers, after our team approves them
• Provide customer support
• Understand how the Services are used, and improve our products, services, website and App
• Send you updates, offers, and marketing communications (you can opt out at any time)
• Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share it only with:

• Google Firebase (Google LLC): app analytics and push notifications
• Razorpay: payment processing
• OpenStreetMap Nominatim: when you use “use my current location,” your coordinates are sent to this service to look up your address
• Courier partners (such as Delhivery and Xpressbees): your name, phone number and delivery address, to deliver your order
• Other service providers (such as IT and hosting services) who help us operate our business
• Law enforcement or government authorities, if required by law or to protect our rights
• Business partners in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (we will notify you if this happens)

Product reviews you write are shown publicly on the Site and the App after our team approves them.

We share only what each third party needs for its job. All such third parties are required to protect your information to the same standard as this Privacy Policy and to use it only for the intended purpose.

4. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

• Recognize your device
• Personalize your shopping experience
• Analyze website and App traffic

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Site.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access, correct, or update your personal information (from My Account on the Site or in the App)
• Withdraw consent for marketing communications
• Withdraw App permissions at any time: turn off location, camera, photos or notifications for the Booksfy app in your phone’s Settings. The rest of the App keeps working.
• Delete your account (see “How to delete your Booksfy account” below)

7. How to delete your Booksfy account

You can delete your Booksfy account in any of these three ways. You do not need to reinstall the App.

1. In the Booksfy app: open the Booksfy app → Profile → My Account → Delete Account → confirm → type DELETE.
2. On the website: log in at booksfy.in, go to My Account → Delete Account → confirm → type DELETE.
3. By email: email support@booksfy.in from your registered email address, or mention your registered phone number, with the subject “Delete my account.”

How long it takes: when you delete your account in the App or on the website, the deletion takes effect immediately.

Orders in progress: you cannot delete your account while an order is still in progress. Once the order is delivered or cancelled, you can delete your account.

What we delete:

• Your profile: name, email, phone number, password and profile picture
• Saved addresses
• Wishlist and cart
• Product reviews you have written
• App notifications, contact-form messages and newsletter subscription
• You are signed out on every device

What we keep, and why:

• Past orders and their invoices (order number, items, prices, billing and delivery address). Indian GST law requires us to keep these for 8 years.
• Payment and refund records for those orders, for the same reason.

8. Retention of Your Information

We keep your personal information while your account is active and as long as necessary to:

• Fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy
• Comply with applicable laws and regulations (for example, order and invoice records are kept for 8 years under Indian GST law)
• Resolve disputes and enforce agreements

When you delete your account, we delete or keep your information as described in section 7.

9. Children’s Privacy

Our Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove the information.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of the Services means you accept the revised policy.
